Northerners by screen writer / director Katie Ross

A gritty Northern Comedy, set in Yorkshire

Northerners is a gritty Northern Comedy, set in Yorkshire at the turn of the millennium; featuring outrageous, memorable and above all lovable characters. Set in The Dogg Inn, a local pub in a small area of York as well as other  regional locations, the comedy follows the trials and tribulations of Kelly Holloway, her dysfunctional family and friends.

Katie Ross, an award winning local screen writer / director is set to begin filming in Selby, from 29th to 30th November 2018,

But while on location this week (w/c: 12th November) in the town, she was in the midst of a frenzy with members of the public walking up to the crew assuming they were filming the new Fast and Furious Franchise, Hobbs and Shaw, starring Dwayne The Rock Johnson, Jason Statham and Idris Elba, which is also filming in the area.

Katie saw the funny side though and said, "We have already cast real Yorkshire people now for the comedy, but if The Rock is interested in being involved, I am sure we can ask him to show us his Yorkshire accent." She added, "We have worked with so many very talented Yorkshire people over the years and it's fantastic that we are also attracting Hollywood producers to the area."

Producer Stewart Ross said,"Jason Statham was at the Cannes Film Festival promoting The Expendables in 2014 when Modak PR and I were there premiering our period drama VIII. It would be great to see him again for a collaboration."

The comedy, which is being produced by Leeds based production company Rossi Pictures, has received so much support from local people & organisations.

Stewart added, "We would like to thank all the local people and organisations for supporting this TV project. It is because of this support that we are able to showcase local talent through our many productions."

Rossi Pictures asked us one again invited us to provide them with PR support to help them to find the best local talent and to promote the TV comedy.

Naj Modak was delighted to be asked to join the casting sessions and meet so many very talented local people.

We hosted ITV Calender News at one of the casting sessions and achieved coverage on Minster FM and Stray FM.

If The Rock is interested in showing us his best Yorkshire accent or providing his support to local actors he should contact Naj Modak @ to arrange a suitable opportunity.
